MLS Assignment #3 Northern California
While in Southern California I debated where I would like to go next. And I thought why not just head up the coast? Luckily enough a job was open right above San Francisco and not too far from Napa Valley.
From Southern California to Northern California I traveled along Highway 1. Twisting and turning along the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Now the journey started at 3:30 am, because I am a night owl, and I wanted to make it through LA before the morning rush started. The whole journey took me 12 hours (though Google Maps says 9 hours) I had to stop at many of the Vista points, do a small hike to stretch my legs, and take an hour nap to make it through. All and all, I made it across the Golden Gate Bridge while the sun was still shining, if only it wasn’t such a cloudy day in San Fran.
From my journey to the start of work, I had about two days to get settled. And after those two days, I was back! This hospital is a ~50-bed acute care facility but it still had all the areas of the lab (except microbiology - which was sent out). Because it was such a small hospital there was such a warm and homey feeling, but the area I was in was also a retirement community. There were not a lot of young techs around to hang out with outside of work. Personally, I do not mind exploring on my own and I did get to go wine tasting with a few of my colleagues, now friends. But this is one of the variables many do not think of when being an MLS traveler.
